The Beginning Is the Bottom Line [Genesis 1]
Friday, January 1, 2010
1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. 3Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. 4God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. 5God called the light day, and the darkness He called night And there was evening and there was morning, one day.
26Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."27God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
31God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
In the beginning, God... The first four words of the Bible says it all. And it is no stretch to say that if you can come to grips with those words, everything else becomes secondary. God is there, here, then, now and always. This is the reality that colors every part of whatever theological debate or spiritual anxiety we face. God IS. From the beginning to the end, and we are completely subsumed by that glorious reality.
Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow
Praise Him, all creatures here below
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
Amen. (Let it be so.)
