Who is your rear guard?

Isaiah 52:12 (New International Version)

12 But you will not leave in haste
or go in flight;
for the LORD will go before you,
the God of Israel will be your rear guard.

Dear Warriors,

How about that for protection?  The King of kings and Lord of lords will go out before you as a shield and cover you from behind. When I think of my son in Afghanistan, these words are a particular comfort to me.  The battle is very real for him and his rear flank can make all the difference in a confrontation.

Lord, we praise you that you really are our protection on all sides from all enemies in any battle, whether the fight is in combat or our struggles with our own flesh.  We thank you for that protection and give you the glory for the victory only You can provide, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
