Jesus Shows Us the Father [John 12]
44And Jesus cried out and said, "He who believes in Me, does not believe in Me but in Him who sent Me.45"He who sees Me sees the One who sent Me.46"I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.47"If anyone hears My sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.48"He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.49"For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak.50"I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me."
One of my favorite things about the book of John is how clearly I can see the Trinity or three persons of our one God (The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit). Up until now in John, the emphasis has been the relationship between the Father and Jesus. However, in just a few more chapters, Jesus introduces the Holy Spirit and His role.
Relationship Between Jesus and the Father
If you believe in Jesus, you believe in the Father who sent Jesus.
If you see Jesus, you see the Father.
Jesus came as God's light into this dark world to save the world.
If you reject Jesus and His sayings, you will be judged by Jesus' words in the last day.
Jesus' word were not His own, but the Father's words
The Father's commandment is eternal life and Jesus speaks just as the Father told Him.
I praise you Father for sending Jesus to show us who You are and to speak Your words of eternal life. Cause us to walk in Your light as we get to know Your Son through the Word.
